Accidentally blew both speakers in my Cube subwoofer. Does anybody know if there is an internal fuse? If not what model speakers do I need to buy and what should I look for? Stupidly, I inadvertantly had my Dayton in fullrange mode. Any tips?

Thanks Henry, I was wondering at what frequency is there less distortion with the new model. For now I think I'll stick with the 126en's.

Is there enough sonic improvement to justify buying the new model? My Horns have the 126en and on top sits the super tweeter. If anyone has made a comparison please let me know. Thanks!

Well I finally got sick of Florida. Close to 500,000 people moved there this past year. More people competing for the same products have drawn up consumer prices. I used to live in central Florida where there was some southern charm still present but alas, no more. Alot of these people have a totally different mind set than what I was accustomed to, plus they also brought their dopey politics with them. I moved to Northwestern Arkansas and love it. Well back to the topic: my new room is smaller than my old one but has 20 foot ceilings. I also now have 4 corners where before I only had 3. What a difference having my Horns on 2 corners, bass response and imaging have improved tremendously. The cubes supply much less output. The speakers sound totally different. They are about 23 inches (back wall to Front of the speakers) and they really sound sweet in my room. This highlights or rather reminds me of the importance of speaker positioning. I will not miss Florida, it has become a really expensive place to live in. Besides AR. ia a much redder state than FL.

On advice from ED: he told me to buy wooden cutting boards at your local food market about 12' by 12'. This kept my cats from from tipping over the speakers if they launch themselves from the speakers. They no longer do this after I scolded them repeatedly about this. Nevertheless, the 12 by 12 cutting boards add stability. They also look pretty good.

Henry, I was thinking about a Bryston 4BST! I have one with a volume control made for me by Bryston to power a pair of Unity Audio Subwoofers.

Is it safe to use high powered amps with the Horns? I like to play classical music but at low levels and higher powered amps firm up the low frequencies better than low powered ones. What thoughts might the members of this forum have? What is the maximum WPC they can tolerate?

General Discussion / Re: Insulation in the Horns
« on: August 16, 2022, 08:36:11 PM »
I was just thinking that the rear wall of the compression chamber could reflect energy back to the the rear cone of the 126en speaker resulting in stored energy on the driver cone. I noticed when several years ago I upgraded to the 126en that there was an area in the back wall of the compression chamber with, if I remember correctly, a rubber pad (?) at the level of the speaker connectors. I thought the purpose of this was to mitigate reflected waves.

Why is there no insulation in the Horns, is it because of the design? How do you deal with cabinet resonances in the Horns. Hey guys been away for two months due to hellacious problems with my Email and bellsouth.net. Like Idependance day " I'AM BACk"!

Henry , the wires go from the Spectral's output to the Dayton high level in and cables go from the high level out from the Dayton to the CUBE?

Henry and Ed, thanks. I may try that. By the way my " PREMIUM " speaker cables are 10 guage Extension chord that I used to use to power my camper at dog shows. I soldered the appropriate connections and I can't tell the difference from Vampire Wire Cables I had lying around the house. The " PREMIUM " Cables are 8 ft each.
