Title: ESS headphone sale
Post by: henry on April 22, 2022, 04:43:20 PM
Just a heads up: ESS has their headphone bundle on sale this weekend.  The bundle is for both models for $60 ($30 per model).  Just enter "2for60" at checkout.  The bundle normally costs $99.

That's a hard to beat deal for wooden-back phones.   :)

The Original Great Heil is back as well as the smooth plate version.  They are going for $200 each (not such a great price break).

Has anyone actually heard any of their headphones?

Hey Capt, I haven't because I'm not a headphone listener.  My wife is into "silent" listening and we have a stable of Sennheiser, JBL and Bose stuff that are pretty good.  The deal is, she wants wireless and these aren't.  I've read a few reviews that were positive and at $30 it's hard to miss if they are mid-fi.

Well, since we live in a small place and my wife doesn't always like to listen to my music, I do use headphones a lot. But like you I have a decent stable of headphones already, mostly open back, only one closed back. I do like the Heil driver that comes with Ed's Horns, but the review I read about the ESS headphones were 'only' so-so.

I may buy a bundle just for kicks.  I'll be in touch.

EDIT!!!
The good folks at ESS seem to think a fair price to ship two $60 lightweight headphones from CA to NC is $39.  Screw them.

I'm disappointed in their new approach to marketing since Ricco retired.

EDIT #2  On 07/21/22 the $39 shipping fee has increased to $52.95.  So basically, a $30 headphone costs $26 to ship.   ::)
