Title: Better and better
Post by: Cidermill1 on August 17, 2026, 10:26:07 PM
It's been quite some time since I've posted.

Equipment changes over the last two years:

Replaced the AR EB101 Turntable with it's Dynavector MC cartridge to a circa 1990s Well Tempered Mark IV turntable with a Van Den Hue MC cartridge.

Replaced the pair (mono blocks) of kit built Nelson Pass Amp Camp Amps, version 1.7 I with an Audio Van Alstine NP-1

And replaced a Schiit Modius DAC with the Chord Mojo 2.

Difficult to say which piece delivers the most overall improvement. If I have to pick one it is the Audio Van Alstine NP-1 Amp. Simply superior in every respect. As a footnote here, I replaced a couple of Kimber cables with Blue Jeans cables to eliminate a hum issue.

Love the engineering of the Well Tempered Turntable. Again superior in every respect as compared with the old AR.

Wish I could have sampled all the DACs in the Mojo 2 price range. Not an easy option these days. Still, liking what I'm hearing playing CDs.

And with the Mojo 2 I can now use headphones. Have not had that option in around 30 years.

Of course all this would not be possible without being built on the rock solid base that is the Truth Preamp!

Thank you Ed for giving me years of great listening pleasure!
